Ronald Araujo has insisted he is committed to Barcelona amid widespread interest in his services, suggesting he wants to stay at Camp Nou.

In an interview following Barcelona’s win over Sevilla this past weekend, as quoted by Barca Blaugranes, Ronald Araujo has produced comments that will excite Barcelona fans. The Uruguayan defender has asserted that he wants to stay put at Camp Nou, hoping to remain at the Catalan club for “many years”.

Ronald Araujo joined Barcelona from Boston River several years ago and has since established himself as a pivotal figure for the Blaugrana. The 23-year-old is arguably the most reliable centre-back at Camp Nou, with the 2021/22 season proving to be the best of his budding career thus far.

The Uruguayan international has turned out 34 times across all competitions this season, chipping in with four goals. But Barcelona had been sweating over Araujo’s long-term future for some time, with several Premier League clubs showing an interest in prising him away in the summer transfer window.

Araujo was most recently linked with Manchester City, while Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool have also shown interest in him. But the 23-year-old has squashed all rumours pertaining to him, insisting in a recent interview that he remains committed to Barcelona.

Araujo said, “I am very happy to be here. I am happy with the support of the people. We are working on the renewal. This week we have a meeting,” he said. “I hope that it is resolved soon so that I can continue many years in this club. I want to stay here.”

Araujo then commented on Pedri’s performance in Barcelona’s big win over Sevilla on Sunday, saying, “We are very happy for Pedri, he is an extraordinary player, spectacular. Now he not only controls the ball, but now he also scores. We are happy that he is with us and he can spend a long time here.”

Judging by Araujo’s comments, it looks like he is committed to Barcelona and wants to enjoy a long and successful stint with the Blaugrana. But with recent reports suggesting that Barcelona’s latest offer is the final one, it will be interesting to see if the Uruguayan international remains at Camp Nou by accepting those terms.
