Real Madrid have been told to pursue the signing of Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah by former midfielder Esteban Cambiasso.

Speaking to Sky Sport (h/t Tutto Mercato Web), former Real Madrid and Inter Milan midfielder Esteban Cambiasso has suggested the Merengues should go after Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, as they need a new attacking winger.

Salah is one of the most dangerous forwards in the game currently. The 29-year-old has been brilliant for Liverpool since he joined from AS Roma back in 2017, helping them win the UEFA Champions League, the Premier League and the Carabao Cup.

However, Salah is set to enter the final year of his contract with Liverpool. And a new deal is yet to be agreed upon. While reports are claiming that the Egyptian international is closing on an extension with the Merseyside giants, rumours surrounding his future continue to do the rounds.

Salah has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid’s arch-rivals Barcelona, although the Catalans are believed to have ceased their pursuit of the Liverpool ace.

Now, though, Cambiasso has urged Los Blancos to consider signing the former Chelsea attacker as he believes that they need a winger to strengthen their options on the right flank more than a new centre-forward.

“Right now what Real Madrid needs is an attacking winger rather than a center forward. Vinicius is there. true, but someone is missing in the other lane since Hazard has failed and Bale is no longer what he used to be. Today a Salah would be more useful than a Lewandowski.” Cambiasso said.

Real Madrid are all set to bolster their frontline in the summer, with Kylian Mbappe expected to arrive on a free transfer. At the same time, there have been links with Erling Haaland as well, although, as Cambiasso says, a new right-winger would be a handy signing for the Spanish capital club.

Gareth Bale will depart at the end of the season as his contract expires, while Marco Asensio’s future is also uncertain. It would leave Rodrygo Goes as the only option on the right-wing. The Brazilian has not enjoyed the best of seasons this term. However, a move for Salah in the summer is unlikely to materialise, with the Egyptian likely to stay put at Anfield.
