Real Madrid star Lucas Vazquez has paid a touching tribute to Raphael Varane as the Frenchman nears a move to Manchester United.

Taking to his Instagram account, as relayed by Tribal Football, Real Madrid and Spain winger Lucas Vazquez has hailed Raphael Varane ahead of the defender’s imminent transfer to Manchester United.

One of the most successful modern-day defenders, Varane is set to bring an end to his ten-year association with Real Madrid. Having joined as a teenager from RC Lens, the defender went on to scale great heights with the Spanish capital club, winning a host of titles and tribulations, firmly cementing his legacy in the history of the club.

However, the two are now set to part ways, with Varane on the verge of joining Manchester United. An agreement over a deal was confirmed earlier this week, with the 28-year-old set to undergo a medical imminently before the transfer is made official.

Praises have been pouring in for Manchester United over the completion of the transfer from all quarters. Now, one of Varane’s soon-to-be former teammates, Lucas Vazquez, has reacted to the news.

Taking to his social media account, the Spanish international, who recently penned a new contract with Real Madrid, shared a few pictures of himself and the Frenchman, with a caption that read: “It has been a great pleasure to play with you during these years, thank you for everything we have achieved together and what we have experienced. We will miss you, amigo, I wish you the best in your new phase.”

Varane’s imminent arrival is a huge shot in the arm for Manchester United, following the signing of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund. The two arrivals have sent out a major statement of intent from the club’s point of view ahead of the new season. After having finished runners-up in the Premier League and the UEFA Europa League, the Red Devils seem to be ready to take the next step.

As for Real Madrid, having lost former captain Sergio Ramos already this summer, the imminent departure of Varane does come about as a bit concerning. It remains to be seen who they bring in to replace the Frenchman.
