Brazil legend Rivaldo has urged compatriot and Leeds United star Raphinha to join Liverpool and compete for the big titles.

Raphinha has been a revelation since joining Leeds United in the summer of 2020. The 24-year-old Brazilian attacker’s displays have attracted interest from a host of Premier League and European clubs. However, Leeds will not let anyone have him on a cheap, as there will be a significant transfer fee attached to the player.

Among the many clubs interested, Liverpool seem like the keenest to sign Raphinha. Jurgen Klopp has been on the lookout for a reliable wide forward for some time now. The manager wants to bring in a quality player to compete with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah while also covering for them when necessary.

Liverpool’s ongoing interest in players such as Ismaila Sarr, Adama Traore and even the prospect of re-signing Raheem Sterling all point towards their pursuit of a wide attacker. However, among those names is also one of Raphinha, who could move clubs during next summer’s window.

Klopp certainly likes the 24-year-old attacker and has been impressed by his displays under Marcelo Bielsa. Leeds have struggled this season, but there is a sense of belief they’ll get their season back on track sooner rather than later. However, they might have to look for a replacement for the Brazilian ace once the current campaign ends.

Brazil legend Rivaldo, who won the 2002 World Cup for his national side, believes Raphinha has a long and bright future ahead of him, and he should sign for a bigger club to win trophies. The club he recommended was Liverpool, stating the Merseysiders would be the best option for him. Transfer Market Web posted Rivaldo’s comments on his compatriot’s future.

Rivaldo said, “Raphinha performed well on his debut for Brazil, but he was already shining in the Premier League with Leeds United, and there are rumours of interest from Liverpool. If he were to make the move, he may not be a regular starter, but I’m sure it would be a big step in his career.

“It would allow him to compete for titles and play in the Champions League, which could be crucial for more call ups into the Brazilian national team. He has the quality to play for a bigger club. He is playing excellent football, and a player always wants more and stronger challenges, so he would benefit from a transfer.”

Only time will tell whether Raphinha ends up making the move to Liverpool in the summer transfer window next year. For now, the Brazilian ace continues to go from strength to strength at Leeds United and he will be determined on continuing on his upward trajectory this season.
