One of Barcelona’s star winter signings, Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang, has heaped praise on the prodigious midfield trio of Pedri, Gavi and Nico Gonzalez.

In a recent interview with Catalan media, as quoted by the official Barcelona website, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has lauded Pedri, Gavi and Nico Gonzalez. The Catalan club’s winter arrival has iterated that it is better witnessing the trio in person than on TV.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has hit the ground running since joining Barcelona following his exit from Arsenal as a free agent in January. The Gabonese striker recently starred in their 4-1 win over Valencia in La Liga, scoring a match-winning hat-trick.

Following that blistering display, Aubameyang was interviewed by several Catalan media houses, during which he spoke about various topics, including his reasons to join Barcelona. The 32-year-old was also quizzed about three of Barcelona’s prodigious midfielders, Pedri, Gavi and Nico Gonzalez.

Since being fast-tracked into the Barcelona first-team setup in the last couple of years, the trio has been in tremendous form. Pedri, in particular, has been sensational, featuring whenever he is fit and available, playing around 70 matches for club and country in the span of a year, starting from the 2020/21 season.

Aubameyang’s response to the questions on the prodigious midfield trio was: “Pedri, Nico, Gavi…they are all really good and seeing them in person is better than on TV. This is a fantastic thing for the Club and its future. I can only say that they need to keep on like this and there will be a lot of fun if they continue with this attitude of wanting to win and give everything.”

Aubameyang also lauded fellow winter signing, Ferran Torres, saying, “Ferran is a lad with a lot of quality. I saw him play at Manchester City many times – it’s easy when you have good players like Ferran Torres; you only have to watch him a little bit to know that.”

Gavi and Nico Gonzalez have not been as influential as Pedri, but the two youngsters have still made their mark for Barcelona in a time of desperate financial troubles. And if the trio’s upward trajectory continues, Barcelona will be in good stead for years to come.

At the same time, Aubameyang and Torres’ forms will be key in the short run as the Catalan giants seek to win their UEFA Europa League tie against Napoli on Thursday.
