Mohamed Salah prefers to face Real Madrid over Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League final, with the Egyptian looking for revenge for the loss in 2018.

Liverpool have been in intense form this season, reaching the final of every competition they have played in. The Reds have already won the Carabao Cup back in February, beating Chelsea on penalties, and the two teams will face each other in the FA Cup final on May 14.

Liverpool remain firmly in the tightly-contested Premier League title race, with a one-point gap separating them and Manchester City at the top of the pile. With four games left in the domestic season, it promises to be one of the most dramatic ends to a league campaign.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have now reached the UEFA Champions League final, a third under the German coach’s watch. Liverpool beat Villarreal in a thrilling semi-final second leg in Spain, meaning they will have another shot at winning the continental crown after reaching their 10th final in history.

Mohamed Salah has been one of the catalysts in the club’s success this season. The Egyptian forward has scored 30 times and provided 15 assists as well. The Liverpool talisman currently leads the Premier League charts for goals and assists, which has put him in the frame to be named Player of the Season.

Liverpool will find out who they will face in the Champions League final in Paris when Real Madrid and Manchester City face off in the second leg of their tightly contested semi-final.

Salah in his comments, quoted by Goal, hoped Liverpool face Real Madrid instead of Manchester City in the final. The Egyptian may have revenge on his mind after losing the 2018 Champions League final to Real Madrid, where he suffered an untimely shoulder injury that ended his night prematurely.

Salah said, “Yeah, I want to play Madrid. City is a really tough team, we’ve played against them a few times this season. If you ask me personally, I’d prefer Madrid. We lost in the final against them, so I want to play against them and hopefully win it from them as well.”

Salah’s future at Liverpool remains uncertain, as he is yet to sign a new deal with Liverpool. Irrespective of what transpires in the saga, the Egyptian forward could write his name in the club’s history by winning the Champions League this season.

Liverpool next face Tottenham at the weekend, hoping to keep up the pressure on Manchester City in the title race. After that, they visit Aston Villa before facing Chelsea in the FA Cup final. The Reds are on course to win an unprecedented quadruple this term, but Real Madrid or Manchester City could be standing in their way in the coming weeks.
