Miralem Pjanic has made a claim about Barcelona, asserting that the team is in need of a good leader while also taking swipe at Ronald Koeman.

In an interview with beIN Sports Turkey, as relayed by Mundo Deportivo, Miralem Pjanic has spoken about some of the issues plaguing Barcelona. The Bosnian midfielder has claimed that the Blaugrana are in desperate need of a good leader while also taking aim at Ronald Koeman.

Pjanic is currently on loan at Besiktas following a horrific maiden campaign at Barcelona upon arriving from Juventus, when he was scarcely used by Ronald Koeman. With his situation unlikely to improve, it was mooted all through the summer that a departure from Camp Nou was the best move forward for the experienced midfielder.

Shortly after joining Besiktas, Pjanic blasted Ronald Koeman for treating him improperly. And he has now once again taken aim at the Barcelona boss, saying, ” I don’t know yet what exactly Koeman wanted , he didn’t try to explain things to me, or find a solution.”

“I was the one who was going to ask him what he wanted from me, what was he doing wrong or right to find out, to adapt faster. In a season at the end you need 17-18 players to win titles. But for him there were no problems in my game, he didn’t give me answers.” Pjanic then proceeded towards speaking about the difficult situation that Barcelona find themselves in, claiming they are in need of a leader.

The Barcelona loanee continued, “Barcelona are in a difficult situation, the results are not going as the fans wanted and the players are under pressure. Maybe the team needs a good leader to improve. Barça is one of the four or five great clubs in the world. It will go back to the old days, but it will take some time.”

Pjanic is correct in his assessment about the lack of leadership at Barcelona, with neither Ronald Koeman nor the likes of Sergio Busquets and Gerard Pique making a big impression as leaders on and off the pitch. As for Koeman, this is unlikely to be the last time he will be slammed over his ways by players past and present at Barcelona.
