Michael Rummenigge predicts Erling Haaland to make a move to England next summer, tipping the Norwegian to join Liverpool in particular.

Erling Haaland was always tipped for great things ever since burst onto the scenes at RB Salzburg. He signed for Borussia Dortmund and scored a hattrick on his debut, coming off the bench. Since then, the Norwegian has scored 62 goals in 61 games for the German side, making him one of Europe’s most formidable strikers.

He was tipped to move on this summer after Chelsea showed tremendous interest in signing him. The Blues were reportedly ready to make a huge offer that would have shattered the Bundesliga record, but somehow a move never transpired. The Premier League side eventually opted to bring back Romelu Lukaku in a £98 million deal from Inter Milan.

The striker will stay put at Dortmund this season, but a move could be imminent next summer. The German club had a free hand at demanding astronomical transfer fees, but a release clause kicks in next summer, meaning Haaland could choose from various clubs.

He was reportedly keen to join one of Real Madrid or Barcelona. However, the financial situation at both clubs makes it difficult to complete a move for Haaland this summer or next. Bayern Munich were also reportedly considering replacing Robert Lewandowski with Haaland, but the Norwegian could move to England eventually.

And according to Dortmund legend Michael Rummenigge, Haaland could move to England next summer, with Liverpool being tipped as his next destination. Rummenigge’s quotes from his talk with Sport1 were posted by Goal.com, where the former star said, “We’ll have to wait and see where he goes after this season.

“Real and Barca have financial problems, so I could imagine him moving to England. His father used to play there too. I could well imagine Liverpool for Haaland. Haaland is an exceptional phenomenon. Players like that only come along every 30 or 40 years. I don’t know what his career plans are, but for Dortmund, it’s great that he’s still wearing the black and yellow jersey this season.

“He is an absolute goal machine; his opponents fly away to the right and left when he starts running. I’ve never seen anything like him at that age. The only drawback with a player of his size is his headers. He doesn’t score enough goals with his head. Otherwise, Haaland is a perfect player,” he said.

While English clubs have the resources to facilitate a huge move for Haaland, next summer will be critical to know what the striker plans. Liverpool could surely come up with the funds to secure him, but the likes of Manchester City or Manchester United could be well placed to sign him as well.
