Barcelona legend Andreas Christensen has given a warning to Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen, suggesting the Dane will have to adapt his game.

As quoted by Tribal Football, Michael Laudrup has commented on the prospect of Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen joining Barcelona in the summer transfer window. The Barcelona legend has told his compatriot that he will need to adapt his game, as the Blaugrana will play with a high line compared to Chelsea.

Michael Laudrup is one of the greatest attacking players ever to grace the game. The 57-year-old was a part of a glorious era for Denmark while taking club football by storm, particularly during his spells with Juventus, Barcelona, and Real Madrid.

The Dane now has words of advice for his compatriot Andreas Christensen, who seems poised to join Barcelona on a Bosman move in the summer transfer window. Widespread reports have claimed that the Chelsea defender has already reached a verbal agreement to join Barcelona. But Laudrup has opined that Christensen will have to adapt his game at Camp Nou.

The Barcelona legend said, “He is a very good player technically, he knows how to play very well, he is in the league with the fastest pace in the world, the difference is that he is playing in a Chelsea with more defensive players to cover.”

“There are up to seven defensive players sometimes. At Barça it will be different. Barça defends higher up and he has to adapt. I think he will be able to adapt. Especially if he has (Gerard) Piqué next to them who can help them, I do not have any doubt.”

Laudrup’s advice – or warning for that matter – could come of great use for Christensen when he eventually joins Barcelona. And the free transfer to Barcelona does seem to be a mere formality at this point, as he has no intention of joining other suitors like AS Roma and Bayern Munich. Meanwhile, Chelsea might not be able to tie him down to a new contract either.

The Blues cannot hand new contracts to players or sign anyone from another club due to the latest sanctions imposed on Roman Abramovich. So unless the sale of Chelsea Football Club concludes quickly, Christensen’s transfer to Barcelona seems to be a foregone conclusion.
