Carlo Ancelotti has claimed that Karim Benzema’s stature at Real Madrid will be unaffected even if they end up signing Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland.

Speaking to the media ahead of Real Madrid’s game against Getafe this weekend, Carlo Ancelotti has assured that Karim Benzema will have an important role in the club’s future even if they sign Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe.

It is no secret that Real Madrid are pursuing the signing of both the young superstars, with Mbappe likely to arrive from PSG on a Bosman deal when his contract expires. As for Haaland, he is also heavily linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu, even though they are facing competition from Manchester City and Barcelona.

In the meantime, Karim Benzema has been playing some of the finest football of his career, firmly establishing himself as the best striker on the planet currently. The Frenchman most recently plundered a hat-trick against Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg at Stamford Bridge, cementing his status as Real Madrid’s most important player.

But with Haaland or Mbappe, or both likely to arrive in the summer, there are concerns as to what it would mean for the future of the 34-year-old superstar. Ancelotti, however, has laid those concerns to rest, insisting that Benzema will remain an important part of the team for the future.

The Real Madrid boss said (h/t Goal), “With Karim’s age and that he is doing better, better and better… his team-mates don’t change anything,” the Italian tactician told a press conference. “In the future he will be one of the most important players in this club, without a doubt, whoever is with him.”

“It’s a very long career, he’s growing, his personality has improved and his leadership. He’s always been good but now he stands out more because he’s more decisive. It’s because of that personality, more of a leader,” Ancelotti added, praising his ace goalscorer.

Benzema has taken his tally to 37 goals from 36 matches in this season across all competitions. He has also set up 13 goals for his teammates. In this form, he is one of the best players in the game at the moment and even though he will turn 35 at the end of the year, the Frenchman will continue to have a key role to play at Real Madrid.
