Guardiola will rue the chance to win the clash after Lukasz Fabianski saved Riyad Mahrez’s spot-kick late in the game. The dropped points gave a minor boost to Liverpool’s somewhat slim chances to claim the title, as they could close the gap to a single point if they defeat Southampton in midweek.
Guardiola, in his post-match presser, made comments in jest as he requested Southampton to ‘beat Liverpool 4-0′ to help Manchester City lift the title. However, the Cityzens’ manager insisted the fight would go until the last day, stating it would be difficult for anyone to beat Liverpool.

When asked if he had any message for Southampton, as quoted by the Express, Guardiola said, “Beat Liverpool 4-0.” Further talking about his rivals, he added: “Against this Liverpool side you cannot win the league four games ago. You have to fight until the end. The big privilege is that it is at home and it is in our hands.”
Liverpool won the FA Cup after beating Chelsea on penalties at Wembley this past Saturday, as Jurgen Klopp added a second trophy this season. They will face Southampton in midweek, and the German manager will be keen on beating the Saints to close the gap to Manchester City and take the Premier League title race to the last day of the season.
Liverpool will face Wolves on the final day, while former Reds captain Steven Gerrard will look to help his old club as his Aston Villa side face Manchester City. The Guardiola-Klopp rivalry is far from done, and things could get interesting on Sunday, 22nd of May.
