Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has ruled out any possible move for Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland.

Erling Haaland is one of the most sought-after players in the transfer market and is attracting interest from all around Europe. While Manchester City are believed to be the front-runners for his signature, there are other interested parties in the fray as well.

The likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester United all also been linked with a move for the Norwegian international. Liverpool, too, have been rumoured to be keeping tabs on the 21-year-old. However, manager Jurgen Klopp has ruled the Reds out of the race for Haaland’s signature.

The German tactician washed his hands off any possible move for the Norwegian, expressing concerns over the amount involved in the striker’s pursuit.

“We won’t be going there. The numbers involved are just crazy – we’ll be having nothing to do with it. No chance! To be honest, I don’t want anything to do with it. It’s not fun,” Klopp told Sport BILD, as quoted by Goal.

Haaland moved to the Westfalenstadion from Red Bull Salzburg in an £18 million deal in the 2020 winter window and has more than repaid the amount Dortmund spent on him. He averages more than one goal contribution per match in Germany, having scored 80 and assisted 21 goals in 83 appearances for Dortmund.

Even in an injury-hit 2021/22 season, Haaland has been scoring goals for fun, keeping interested parties on alert. In 24 matches across competitions, the 21-year-old has scored 23 and assisted six goals. Riding on such form, a strong finish to the season will set him up for a big summer, where European giants will vie for his signature.

Manchester City are widely reported to be the favourites to sign him this summer. The Cityzens have been on the lookout for a long-term replacement for Sergio Aguero and seem to have found one in Haaland. Liverpool, however, will not enter the race to sign the Dortmund forward.

The Reds have made Mohamed Salah’s contract extension their priority. Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino will also enter the final year of their Liverpool contracts after the ongoing season and Klopp’s side will be focusing on sorting out the contracts of their key forwards.
