Former Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has offered his thought on Cristiano Ronaldo’s fabled return to Manchester United.

Speaking to the media this week, Jose Mourinho commented on Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Manchester United. The former Real Madrid manager believes that the move makes sense for all parties involved but has refused to comment further.

Ronaldo’s move to Man United comes in the aftermath of Juventus’ disappointing 2020/21 campaign that saw them miss out on the Serie A title. Manchester City were initially the frontrunners to sign the forward, but Manchester United came in at the last moment to seal the deal.

Shortly after the move, Mourinho, who currently coaches AS Roma, was asked about his fellow countryman’s return to Manchester, during the press conference ahead of his side’s Serie A encounter against Salernitana.

A former Champions League winner with FC Porto and Inter, Mourinho had coached Ronaldo for almost three seasons. The Portuguese international featured in 164 matches under the 58-year-old, scoring a whopping 168 goals while mustering 46 assists.

However, the former Tottenham didn’t seem all too keen when asked about Ronaldo’s transfer back to Manchester United. His quotes in the press conference were recently published on O Jogo, as cited by Sport Witness, with the Roma manager stating, “What I can say is basic, it’s logical. If Juventus are happy, if Ronaldo is happy and Manchester United are happy, then it’s a perfect deal.

“There is no need to talk about Ronaldo. He has written history for the last 20 years. I have nothing more to comment,” he added.

Mourinho seemed disinterested in offering any sort of comment on the 36-year-old’s return to Old Trafford that dominated the headlines across the globe on Friday. It appears he is ready to move on from his former spells in England or coaching players like Ronaldo or Gareth Bale, with the Portuguese tactician now keen on succeeding in his current stint at Roma.

The Giallorossi have started the campaign well, securing a comfortable 3-1 victory over Fiorentina in Rome. They face a tricky test on Sunday, as they take on newly-promoted Salernitana, in Stadio Arechi.
