John Terry has hailed Chelsea’s decision to re-sign Romelu Lukaku, claiming he was the missing piece in the jigsaw for them.
Speaking to Sky Sports, as relayed by Football 365, John Terry has opened up about his feelings over Chelsea’s decision to re-sign Romelu Lukaku. The Blues’ legend has hailed the decision, claiming he has something to prove at Stamford Bridge and was the missing piece for them.
Chelsea awoke from their slumber in the transfer market when they ended up bringing Romelu Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge. However, it was a long time coming, as the west Londoners had been keen on signing a striker in the summer after the struggles of Timo Werner last season.
Indeed, Jorginho was the top scorer in the Premier League for Chelsea, which is quite damning in itself considering he is a holding midfielder. As a result, the Blues chased Erling Haaland for a long time before they turned their attention towards Lukaku, who returned to Stamford Bridge on a club record fee.
The transfer has since been hailed from all quarters, with former Chelsea defender Glen Johnson even hailing the Belgian striker to be the best signing of the summer transfer window. And now, Chelsea legend John Terry has had his say on the transfer.
Speaking to Sky Sports (h/t Football 365), the Chelsea legend said, “I think they’re looking very good, he’s the one big one missing. I know they won the Champions League last season but probably just missed out [on the Premier League] overall because of that, I think bringing him in the kind of gives that, he’s shown that already.”
“He’s got something to prove at Chelsea too, it didn’t work out for him last time, I know Rom and he’s very determined to do well. Chelsea are looking great at the minute and I think they can give Manchester City a push.”

Only time will tell whether Lukaku is enough to boost Chelsea’s chances of winning the Premier League title, although the early signs look good. Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy has claimed the Belgian striker might not be enough to deliver the title, but the Blues will hope the opposite is the case come May.
