Jamie O’Hara has fired shots on Harry Kane following Tottenham Hotspur’s run of three games without a victory.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Jamie O’Hara has criticised Harry Kane, blaming the forward for slowing Tottenham down. He believes that the North London giants were better without the Englishman in their team while also firing shots at his body language.
O’Hara scathing attack on Kane came in the aftermath of Tottenham Hotspur’s 3-0 defeat to Chelsea. They are now without a win in three consecutive games in all competitions, which has derailed that excellent start to the league campaign.
Amid the poor run of form, former Spurs midfielder Jamie O’Hara believes Harry Kane should be primarily blamed, in an interview with Talksport. He did praise the forward for his contribution to the team over the years but has claimed that the team had looked better without him at the start of the season.
“It’s tough one for me as Harry Kane is Mr Tottenham, in my opinion, but I look at his body language and look at the way he’s playing and he’s not playing very well,” he told talkSPORT.
“I kind of enjoyed Spurs at the beginning of the season when he didn’t play. I know that sounds bad because he is a great player and he is someone who you need in your team, but he’s come back into the team and we can’t win. When it was Bergwijn, Moura and Son up front, we sat in, we were composed, we soaked up the pressure and tried to hit teams on the counter-attack,” he added.
O’Hara, who had featured in 56 matches for Tottenham during his career, went on to further criticise Kane’s body language and how he has been detrimental to the team.
“Harry Kane has come back and he’s trying to do everything. For some parts of the game he’s playing as a holding midfielder! They are doing too much, we need you to play up front and where things can happen. I feel like he’s slowing things down for us a little bit at the minute.”
“You can’t criticise him for what he is and what he’s done for the football club, but at the moment he’s not playing very well for us,” said O’Hara, whose comments certainly reflect Kane’s situation at Tottenham right now.
With two goals in six competitive matches and none of them coming in the Premier League, this is indeed a testing time for the Englishman. But with still a chunk of the season still to be played, it will be interesting to see how the forward adapts to Nuno Espirito Santo’s tactical philosophy this season, especially with Manchester City watching.
