Real Madrid ace Thibaut Courtois has brutally mocked Manchester United forward Anthony Martial questioning if the Frenchman is a star player.

Speaking during Pickx Sport’s 7 Second Challenge, as relayed by The Sun, Real Madrid ace Thibaut Courtois has fired a snide remark at Manchester United and France forward Anthony Martial.

Courtois and his Belgium teammate Jan Vertonghen were participating in the aforementioned 7 Second Challenge during which the latter asked the former Chelsea goalkeeper to name some of the biggest stars that missed out on the UEFA Euro 2020 this summer.

Courtois, though, struggled to come up with the players, responding with just the name of his former Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos. With the seven-second timer elapsing, Vertonghen started listing out the stars that had not played a part in the European Championships this year.

The Benfica defender named Erling Haaland, Virgil van Dijk, Jan Oblak, Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Anthony Martial, at which point Courtois interrupted the defender and aimed a brutal dig at the Manchester United attacker, saying, “Martial? Is he a star player?”

Courtois’s snide remark comes after Martial faced yet another difficult season at Manchester United. Since signing for the Red Devils in 2015 from AS Monaco, the 24-year-old has shown plenty of spark but has lacked the element of consistency in his game.

After enjoying a stunning 2019/20 campaign when he finished as the club’s top-scorer, things were expected to take a turn for the better. However, that is not how things panned out as Martial struggled to make an impact on a regular basis for Manchester United, falling behind Edinson Cavani in the pecking order.

The French forward also picked up an injury in the latter half of the campaign which meant he missed quite a few games, while also failing to stake a claim for inclusion in the France national squad for UEFA Euro 2020. With Manchester United set to sign Jadon Sancho this summer, there have been question marks over the future of Martial at Old Trafford.

Nonetheless, the remarks from Courtois were uncalled for. The Belgian himself has endured tough times at Real Madrid in the past and his comments are in a bad taste. As for Martial, it will be interesting to see if he can turn his fortunes around at Manchester United.

Lo de Courtois es normal,le falta ubicar su ego de acuerdo a su aporte, esto se respalda con títulos y no los veo.
