Liverpool moved to the second spot in the Premier League table, after their narrow 1-0 win over Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

With Manchester City thrashing Burnley 5-0 earlier in the day, the pressure was on Liverpool to keep up with the league leaders, more so considering that they hadn’t picked up a win in four games across all competitions heading into Saturday’s match.

However, Mohamed Salah’s goal 24 minutes into the game proved to be the difference at the John Smith’s Stadium, as the Reds were made to work very hard to grind out a victory, with the Terriers applying heavy pressure in search of an equaliser.

The result sees Jurgen Klopp’s men stay in touch with Manchester City, with 23 points from nine matches, with the Mancunians ahead of the Reds owing to a superior goal difference.

Liverpool supporters hailed Salah, who had not scored in four matches in a row coming into this match, as he produced the goods on Saturday, scoring his 50th goal in English football.

England international Adam Lallana returned from injury and was handed a start by Klopp against the Terriers – just his second appearance of the ongoing season and his first PL start since January. Things did not go all too well for the midfielder though as he failed to make much of an impression on the fans during his 69 minutes on the field.
