Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has revealed his admiration for Arsenal youngster and England teammate Bukayo Saka.

Speaking to the press ahead of England’s UEFA Euro 2020 quarter-final clash against Ukraine, as relayed by The Irish Sun, Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has claimed that he wished Arsenal starlet and Three Lions’ teammate Bukayo Saka was his child or brother.

When on national duty, players set aside their club rivalries, which opens up room for new friendships and camaraderie, and it seems like there’s one brewing between Shaw and Saka. The Manchester United left-back, who has been in fine form for the Three Lions so far in the tournament, has seemingly hit it off very well with the Arsenal youngster.

“Honestly, I love him. I would just love it if he was my child or something, I love him like that, and you could ask anyone in the squad and they would say how nice a guy he honestly is. I didn’t know him before I came to the camp and I didn’t know what he would be like but I have got on so well with him, I would love him to be my brother,” Shaw said.

The England star further added that Saka had that ability to make everyone laugh, insisting that having such a personality within the roster helps keep spirits up. “He is so cool, so funny and he makes everyone laugh and he doesn’t mean it. He is not a loud person it is just the way he is, the way he speaks. Someone like that in the camp is good to have and he gets everyone laughing and we just all love him and appreciate the way he is,” he said.

Saka, while being charming and infectious off the field, has been top-notch on it. The 19-year-old was the Man of the Match in England’s narrow group stage win against the Czech Republic and stood out in the win against Germany as well. Shaw, too, is enjoying an impressive tournament, something that was acknowledged by long-term critic and former manager Jose Mourinho.

The duo will look to carry on in a similar vein of form when Gareth Southgate’s men clash against Ukraine in Rome later tonight.
