Teddy Sheringham has warned Harry Kane not to leave Tottenham Hotspur in favour of a transfer to Manchester United in the summer.

Speaking to Genting Casino (h/t GOAL), former Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur striker Teddy Sheringham has urged Harry Kane to not consider leaving the north London outfit to move to M-16 this summer.

Kane is widely regarded as one of the best strikers in the game currently and has enjoyed incredible individual success at Tottenham. However, trophies continue to elude the England captain, which led to him coming ever so close to leaving Spurs last summer. But his move to Manchester City collapsed as Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy held firm on his asking price for the centre-forward.

Having stayed at Tottenham, Kane was off to a slow start and seemed unsettled at the club. But things have improved considerably over the past few months under new manager Antonio Conte. And the 28-year-old seems likely to stay put at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, having aided their push for a top-four finish.

But, speculations in the media persist, with Manchester United being credited with an interest in Kane. But, Sheringham, who played for both clubs, has advised the England captain not to move as he might have a better chance of winning silverware at Tottenham with Conte at the helm.

“If you were a United fan you’d wish that Kane joins. If Harry Kane made himself available, I think every club in the world would want him on their list. Manchester United are falling down the pecking order for big players, but having said that, they are still a massive club, they’re still a massive draw,” he said.

“If they do come calling, it’ll be hard to turn them down. Even if they’re not in any European competitions next season, it would still be a very tough thing to say no to Manchester United. I think it’s all about the managers that are going to be in charge and if you’re being led in the right manner,” Sheringham added.

“I think Ten Hag has a really tough job of steering the boat in the right direction being at Manchester United, I would say Tottenham have the better chance of winning trophies at the minute. I think Kane is more likely to win something at Tottenham with [Antonio] Conte in charge rather than at Manchester United at the moment.”

Sheringham then added that he expects Kane to stay at Tottenham, claiming that the 28-year-old looked much happier now than in the early parts of the season. “He obviously had a four or five-month period where things were rocky but I see him back on form again now, enjoying his football, he looks like he’s happy to stay where he is,” he said.

Kane has racked up 26 goals and nine assists in 46 matches across all competitions this season.
