Tottenham Hotspur and England forward Harry Kane has opened up on his failed move to Manchester City this summer.

Speaking to talkSPORT before England’s midweek game, Harry Kane was asked about his failed attempt to force a move to Manchester City this summer. The forward claims that his conscience is clear even after showcasing his desire to leave the club earlier in the summer and is ready to focus ahead on the new season.

The interview comes on the stroke of the summer transfer window slamming shut, when it was officially confirmed that Manchester City were not signing a new forward to replace Sergio Aguero.

Kane, who has scored 166 goals in 247 Premier League, just 18 goals shy of beating Aguero’s tally, was the main target for the English champions throughout the summer. But Tottenham Hotspur’s resolve paid off in the end, with the striker himself confirming his prolonged stay in North London.

The Guardian has published his quote, in an interview with talkSPORT, before the upcoming England game against Hungary, where the Tottenham star has claimed that he is not bothered by the failed transfer and is concentrating on football.

“I don’t think so,” Kane said. “Anyone involved in the football industry knows the ins and outs and I was calm with the situation. It was between me and the club. When you know the truth and you know what is going on, your conscience is clear. I have had ups and downs and I know a lot of people who know I am a professional athlete and dedicate my life to this game.”

“My focus moving forward is to win silverware at Tottenham and this year is no different. We have started brilliantly in the Premier League with three wins and we have a new manager. This is my focus. We want to win as many games as possible and get that trophy I have wanted all my career,” he added.

It remains to be seen whether Kane’s journey at Tottenham ends on a positive note, but the Lilywhites have certainly enjoyed a strong start to the campaign. They are sitting at the top of the Premier League table with three wins in three matches, notably beating Man City in the opening game, though Kane wasn’t part of the squad in that affair.
