A resilient Luxembourg held Group A toppers France to a frustrating goalless draw in Toulouse on Sunday.
Didier Deschamps’ men took an astounding 34 shots on goal, and had 76% of the possession, but to little success. Luxembourg, who are enjoying an inspired week of international football, are set to end the break unbeaten as they backed their shock 1-0 win over Belarus with a shock draw against the heavyweights.
France remain atop Group A with 17 points, but their lead has been cut to a solitary point following Sunday’s result. Meanwhile, Luxembourg climbed from the bottom of the table to sit fifth, and the minnows were all the rage on Twitter after the shock result.
Luxembourg have avoided defeat against France for the first time since 1914.

This is the best week in Luxembourg history.
Two clean sheets in a row!
1-0 win over Belarus, and now 0-0 in France. Beyond incredible!

Luxembourg have taken 24 pts from a possible 396 in 132 World Cup quals since 1930s. Four in the last few days, one at full strength France.

Meanwhile, France and Didier Deschamps were the whipping boys on Twitter after they failed to beat the 136th ranked minnows:
How is Coman ahead of Martial in this French team? Deschamps has an actual sickness.

After the horror of England only winning by 4 goals in Malta, France showed us how it’s done with a goalless draw at home to Luxembourg. 😳

France being held at home by Luxembourg. Has a manager ever got less out of players this good than Deschamps gets out of these?
