Emile Smith Rowe described his man-of-the-match performance as ‘the best day of my life’, as Arsenal won the North London Derby vs Tottenham.

Arsenal swept Tottenham aside in the North London Derby at a packed Emirates Stadium. Three first-half goals put the game beyond Spurs’ reach as the Gunners never let the visitors anywhere near them.

The victory took the Gunners above Spurs in the table on goal difference, highlighting the contrasting fortunes of both clubs. After matchday 3, Tottenham sat at the league’s summit while Arsenal languished at the very bottom of the table. Mikel Arteta’s side have since won three games on the trot, with Spurs losing all theirs in this time frame.

Emile Smith Rowe, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Bukayo Saka were among the goalscorers, with the two academy graduates particularly effective in the game. Smith Rowe was named man-of-the-match by Sky Sports after a performance that saw him score and assist.

The 21-year-old was delighted at his performance, describing it as ‘the best day of his life’. Smith Rowe graduated from Arsenal’s Hale End academy and is one of the many players who became a major star for the first team. He revealed all about the day and his performance, to which his family were witness to from the stands.

Smith-Rowe said, “I’ve always dreamt of this day to score for Arsenal against Tottenham. With my family here, it’s the best feeling ever.”

‘I feel like he [Arteta] just tells us to keep calm; it gives us so much confidence,’

Smith Rowe’s performances have been praised since his breakthrough last season against Chelsea. He instantly revitalised an Arsenal side that struggled for long periods until that particular clash and has never looked back since.

Arsenal also gave him a new deal in the summer, which he signed and received the no.10 shirt, which reiterated the club’s and Arteta’s belief in the attacking midfielder. The 21-year-old youngster has now made 7 appearances in the new season, scoring two goals and setting up one more. If performances like the one against Spurs continue, Smith Rowe could greatly influence the club’s season.
