Donny van de Beek has revealed he decided to join Everton after a ‘positive’ conversation with new manager Frank Lampard.
Donny van de Beek ended his Manchester United nightmare on deadline day to join Everton on a six-month loan deal. The Toffees might have been delighted to secure the Dutchman’s signature as they gear up to push the club into the top half of the table.
Everton also secured Dele Alli from Tottenham a few hours after signing the Manchester United midfielder. Those signings are designed to propel the club up the standings in the second half of the Premier League season, after struggling for form under former boss Rafael Benitez.
On deadline day, Everton also announced the appointment of Frank Lampard as their new manager, with the former Chelsea boss having a say in arrivals of Alli and van de Beek. He will certainly look to work hard with those two signings and the stars who are already at Goodison Park to improve the club’s fortunes.
Lampard also had a major say in the transfer of van de Beek, who at one point looked close to joining Crystal Palace. The Londoners had all but agreed terms with Manchester United, only for Everton to revive their interest from the previous summer to prise the midfielder away from Manchester United.

The Dutchman suggested he is looking forward to working with the former Chelsea boss and believes their ideas in football align together.

The former Ajax star has endured a nightmarish spell at Manchester United. He has found himself more on the bench more often than on the pitch, with his situation leaving him frustrated. He wanted to join Everton on loan last summer, only for former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to block a potential deal.
He might have got his wish for now, but it remains to be seen if Lampard uses him appropriately in his system. The Dutchman surely has the opportunity to shine and show Manchester United what they missed in the last 18 months.
