Don Hutchison has urged Manchester United’s fringe midfielder, Donny van de Beek, to leave the club, with the World Cup coming soon.

Speaking to BBC 5 Live Sport, Don Hutchison has recently opined on Donny van de Beek’s situation at Manchester United. The former Liverpool midfielder believes that the Dutchman should leave Old Trafford in search of game-time, especially with the 2022 FIFA World Cup just around the corner.

The Manchester United midfielder has been in the news lately due to his persisting problem over lack of game-time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Earlier this summer, the player’s agent had stated that the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo was not good for his client, but he did insist that van de Beek has been promised to earn a more prominent role in the first-team this season.

But more than a month into the new season, the situation hasn’t improved for the former Ajax prodigy, who has featured in only one Premier League match so far while playing in only 45 minutes in the UEFA Champions League. He is expected to start when Man United face West Ham in Carabao Cup this midweek, but that won’t improve his situation whatsoever.

As such, former Liverpool midfielder Don Hutchison believes van de Beek should move on and ask his agent to find him a new club, as quoted by Tribal Football.

“I think if you’re Donny van de Beek now, you’ve got to have the conversation with your agent, who’s then gonna have the conversation with the manager, chief executive because you’ve got a World Cup coming up in 18 months time,” Hutchison told BBC 5 Live Sport.

“He cannot afford just to be sitting on that bench, playing in the League Cup midweeks and playing odd minutes and getting brought on and getting taken off. If I’m gonna Donny van de Beek I need to move on from Manchester United,” he added.

Hutchison’s comments certainly reflect van de Beek’s current situation at Manchester United, having fallen behind the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba and even Fred in the pecking order.

But fortunately for him, a move away from Old Trafford could be on the horizon in January, with Inter Milan reportedly interested in the services of the Dutchman. The Nerazzurri have been an appealing destination to a lot of ex-United players in recent years, so a move to Milan would certainly make a world of sense for van de Beek.
