Don Hutchison has predicted Kalvin Phillips to soon earn a big-money move to Liverpool, Manchester United or another top English club.

Speaking to ESPN, Don Hutchison has offered his thoughts on Kalvin Phillips’ situation at Leeds United. The football pundit expects the English international to leave Elland Road soon, in favour of a move to a top English club like Manchester United or Liverpool.

A former Liverpool midfielder back in his day, Hutchinson was among the crowd during Leeds United’s Carabao Cup game against Fulham last week. He was left mesmerised by Phillips’ performance as he helped his side to a narrow victory despite being deployed as a centre-back by Marcelo Bielsa.

A native of Leeds, Phillips is widely referred to as the “Yorkshire Pirlo” due to his expert passing as well as the ability to read the game. The Englishman is tactically versatile as well, partly thanks to Marcelo Bielsa, who has transformed into one of the best midfielders in the Premier League in recent years. Hutchison shared similar thoughts about Phillips during his latest segment with ESPN FC.

“I was at Fulham against Leeds last week. And Kalvin Phillips absolutely blew me away. I watched him live. He played as a centre-back and then whenever Leeds had the ball, he stepped into midfield and played as a midfield player.”

“His positional sense was amazing. His passing is outrageous. He has the no-look pass. Balls into the front men. He’s got a two iron and three iron zinger out to the widemen. He has every pass in the locker,” said Don Hutchison.

Phillips’ rise to prominence has indeed been quite the sight. After being promoted to the Premier League last year with Leeds, the 25-year-old has already established himself as an English international, notably playing a vital role in his nation’s Euro 2020 campaign. As such, he has been linked with a move away from Elland Road, with the Whites reportedly holding out for €70 million.

Hutchison, too, has no faith in Phillip’s long-term future at Leeds United. In fact, the former Liverpool midfielder has tipped the Englishman to move to a bigger club next summer.

“Everything about him told me that he’s not going to be at Leeds for much longer. There is going to be Liverpool and Man United, all the big clubs are going to want him in the summer,” he told ESPN FC.

Manchester United certainly seem to be in the market for Phillips, while Liverpool have not shied away from expressing their interest either. Leeds United’s poor start to the campaign does not help the Yorkshire giants either, so a move away from Elland Road is certainly a possibility for the 25-year-old, who is hoping to make an impression in next year’s FIFA World Cup.
