Divock Origi has expressed his joy after scoring a late winner against Wolves at the weekend, suggesting it was the best feeling for him.

Liverpool found an improbable hero in Divock Origi yet again after he scored a late goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers to hand his team all three points at the Molineux. The game looked destined to end in a draw, as Wolves stood their ground until the very last minute when they allowed the Belgian slightly more space than necessary.

The goal handed Liverpool the points they needed and saved Diogo Jota’s blushes. The Portuguese striker missed a few gilt-edged chances, including one from six yards out with the goalkeeper missing from his line, hitting it directly at Conor Coady when the entire net on the other side was open.

Where Jota failed, Origi excelled, as he took a great first touch off Mohamed Salah’s square ball and lashed it home. It was not the Belgian’s first great contribution from the bench. He has been instrumental in some of Liverpool’s improbable wins in the past, including the UEFA Champions League semi-final clash against Barcelona, when the Reds were 3-0 down from the first leg, and Origi ended up scoring twice to complete a popular comeback.

From an outside perspective, Origi has not been afforded the chances he deserved under Klopp, and this is why he is expected to leave the club sooner rather than later. With transfer speculation rising in the background, the Belgian striker remains happy at Liverpool.

After scoring his goal against Wolves, he expressed happiness at playing his part for the team. Origi’s comments appeared on Transfer Market Web, and the striker seemed pleased after the late netting match-winner at the Molineux.

Origi said, “Yeah, I would say we all enjoyed it a lot. It was a huge win for us. We wanted to keep the momentum going. We know that today is going to be a hard game defensively, as well as offensively. They were well organised, but in the end, we found the solution, and that’s what we do it for.”

“Do we keep believing? Exactly. I think that ties in with the club’s values – keep believing, keep going. In the end, you can only control the moment you are in and just try to make the right play every time again, even if you fail again and again. In the end, we are happy that we got the goal, even though it was a bit late. We enjoyed it.”

“Winning games is all you work for. We try to work on the details during the week, and we’re together the whole season to try to get wins, obviously play well. In the end, getting that win, getting that goal is the best feeling, and it keeps us also going [with] the momentum. Very happy.”

Whether Origi gets more opportunities to impress following his impressive cameo remains to be seen. For now, he is revelling in an important contribution to bolster Liverpool’s Premier League title hopes, and rightly so.
