Dimitar Berbatov believes Cristiano Ronaldo will succeed at Manchester United despite suggesting the Portuguese might pose a ‘luxury problem’ for Solskjaer.

The opinions since Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Manchester Unites refuse to stop, especially from pundits and former club players. Dimitar Berbatov is the latest to opine on the forward as the Bulgarian discussed various topics surrounding the Portuguese.

However, Berbatov’s key subjects involved the questions related to how Ronaldo might perform in this Manchester United side, which loaded with attacking talents. The Bulgarian icon also stressed a possible ‘luxury problem’ the arrival of the Portuguese might pose for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with his attack.

Manchester United have a quality pool of attacking talents, including Jadon Sancho, who arrived this summer. Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani are all vying for a spot in the attacking three, and the addition might see a few miss out from time to time.

It’s firmly believed that the club did not sign him for a bench role while still displaying elite form. However, his advancing age and the speed of the Premier League might permit Solskjaer to rotate him from time to time, although Ronaldo is primed to be a firm first-choice starter for the club this season.

Berbatov told Goal what he feels about the Portuguese forward’s return and what can be expected from Ronaldo this season. The Bulgarian hinted the arrival could create an imbalance in the squad, but it will depend on Solskjaer to manage affairs, although he believes the 36-year-old will be a hit this season.

Berbatov said, “This is a problem; a luxury problem. When you have Sancho, Rashford, Greenwood, Martial, Cavani and Ronaldo, how do you keep everyone happy here?”

“It is possible, but it’s also near impossible because you’re always going to have someone who is not happy with his playing time, and this is the job of the manager now: how to manage all these connections, playing time and keep everyone happy.”

“Players will need rotating, but I expect Ronaldo to start important games because when the game isn’t going well, you need that special someone that can bring that spark and win you the game,”

“But let’s not forget Ronaldo is 36 and the Premier League is very fast with a lot of games, so he will be rotated around the team for sure. When you’re clever, you adapt your game to whatever the situation is.”

“Maybe he cannot outpace and outrun some other players younger than him, but he’s still very quick, fast and intelligent. I think he’s going to a great success, especially for the young boys in the team who can watch, observe, copy and ask for advice. This way, they can raise their game as well.”

How Ronaldo fares will be interesting to see. However, with his second Manchester United debut just a couple of days away, the anticipation is growing like wildfire.
