Deco has confirmed that Liverpool are interested in Raphinha, claiming that they have made some approaches for the 24-year-old Leeds United star.

In an interview with Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte, Deco has claimed that there are many clubs that are interested in Raphinha. The former Portuguese international, who represents the 24-year-old Brazilian attacker, has claimed that Liverpool have previously made approaches to swoop him away from fellow Premier League outfit Leeds United.

Raphinha joined Leeds United from Rennes in the summer of 2020 and has since gone on to establish himself as one of the most eye-catching attackers in the Premier League. At the same time, he has also become the Whites’ talisman, playing a key role in a memorable 2020/21 season.

The 24-year-old has started the new campaign strongly as well, even though Leeds have struggled to get the wins. Raphinha, though, has managed a decent return of three goals in seven Premier League appearances to show for his efforts so far.

The player has made his full debut for the Brazilian national side in this month’s international break and has taken no time to make an impression, with two goals and two assists to show in just three games so far for the Selecao. And now, his agent Deco has made some interesting claims.

Speaking to Globo Esporte, the former Barcelona playmaker has spoken about Raphinha’s future while also confirming the interest from one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League. The ex-Portuguese international said, “There are certainly many clubs interested in him. Liverpool do like him and there were some approaches, but nothing official. Leeds wanted to keep him for another season.”

“Raphinha is happy at Leeds, but there will certainly come a time when he wants to take a step up in his career and move forward. He has three years left on his contract, but there’s nothing in it that states how long he must stay for or that prevents transfers. Leeds are aware of that and will want to sell him for a big sum, while Raphinha will end up progressing in his career.”

“There’s a market for Raphinha and Leeds have very high expectations. There’s never been a rush in terms of the project. He’s ambitious to play at a higher level, despite Leeds being in the Premier League, but it’s not the right time (to talk about that) and that’s not what he’s focused on. Things will take their course naturally.”

As per Deco, it looks like Raphinha is here to stay at Leeds for the time being despite the continued interest from Liverpool. What now remains to be seen is if Liverpool can do anything to turn the Brazilian attacker’s head or if he continues to commit his future to the West Yorkshire club.
