Dani Alves has urged Barcelona to dream about somehow clinching the La Liga title after beating Real Madrid 4-0 last weekend.
Speaking in the aftermath of Barcelona’s 4-0 win over Real Madrid this past weekend, as relayed by Barca Universal, Dani Alves has commented on the prospect of winning the La Liga title with the Blaugrana. The Brazilian ace has urged the Barcelona players to dream about triumphing in the league, suggesting they will do everything they can to land him.
Barcelona might finally be moving in the right direction after a couple of horrendous years. Xavi Hernandez has galvanised the first-team squad with some major changes to the style of play and mentality. As a result, the Catalan giants have produced some tremendously impressive displays in the last few weeks.
But the most impressive of all the performances came this past weekend, as Barcelona handed a 4-0 hammering to Real Madrid at their own home, the Santiago Bernabeu, in the final El Clasico of the season. The result was no mere fluke, as Barcelona completely outplayed Real Madrid to go within 12 points of Los Blancos, with a game in hand.
While the gap to the league leaders seems insurmountable, one player believes Barcelona must do everything to bridge the gap. That player is Dani Alves, who has urged his teammates to dream about clinching the La Liga title by laying it all on the line.
The Brazilian legend said, “Let’s dream. Let’s dream about winning La Liga. We’ll do everything we can. Winning at the Bernabéu is always a pleasure and doing so after so long makes it even more special.”
Alves also reached 400 appearances with Barcelona in the game last weekend, and he was visibly honoured to complete the milestone. Alves added, “Reaching 400 matches for this beautiful club is a privilege. I’m proud to be a Barça player. And I hope the fans are happy with what we offer.”
As for his major comments, winning the La Liga title might be beyond Barcelona this season. But if their upward trajectory continues, the Catalan giants might clinch the league next term, and it will be interesting to see if Xavi can continue wielding his Midas Touch on the Blaugrana.
