Struggling Real Madrid star Eden Hazard will not be leaving the club in the upcoming summer transfer window, claims Carlo Ancelotti.

Speaking to the press ahead of Real Madrid’s La Liga clash against Cadiz, manager Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Eden Hazard will not be going anywhere in the summer transfer window.

Having secured a dream move to Real Madrid from Chelsea in 2019, Hazard has endured a torrid three-year spell at the Santiago Bernabeu. The Belgian wing-wizard has struggled with unrelenting injury and fitness problems and has failed to make the most of his opportunities even when fit and available.

Despite being at Real Madrid for almost three years, Hazard has made just 65 appearances for the club, managing a paltry return of six goals and ten assists. The 31-year-old has endured another injury-riddled campaign in 2021/22, featuring in just 22 matches in which he has one goal and two assists.

His struggles at the Spanish capital outfit had led to intense speculations over his future beyond the current season. There has been interest in the former Chelsea superstar from clubs in the Premier League. The 31-year-old has also attracted interest from clubs in Italy, with AC Milan lodging an enquiry for the winger.

However, Ancelotti has now claimed that Hazard will not be leaving Real Madrid in the upcoming transfer window. As quoted by GOAL, the Italian tactician said: “We haven’t talked about it. [But] his plan is quite clear; he stays and he does it with a lot of motivation because he hasn’t had a good time in recent years and he wants to show his quality.”

Hazard had been sidelined for the last couple of months due to an ankle issue for which he had to undergo surgery. The Belgian is back to full fitness and is in contention to feature against Cadiz on Sunday evening.

Despite Ancelotti’s comments, some doubts still linger over the future of Hazard. The final two matches of the season could be a good opportunity for the Belgian international to showcase his quality and convince Real Madrid to give him another chance to come good in the next season.
