Benjamin Sesko’s agent Elvis Basanovic has spoken about the recent links with Real Madrid, claiming it is normal to have such rumours.
In an interview with Spanish publication AS, Elvis Basanovic has talked about the speculation surrounding his client Benjamin Sesko. And the Slovenian prodigy’s agent has claimed that it is normal for the links with Real Madrid to crop up after his fine performances for Red Bull Salzburg.
Benjamin Sesko joined Red Bull Salzburg from NK Domzale in the summer of 2019 before being sent out on loan to FC Liefering almost immediately. Since returning from his temporary stint away from the Austrian giants, the 18-year-old has been extremely impressive.
The Slovenian prodigy, who has also drawn comparisons with Erling Haaland, has racked up a tally of seven goals and three assists in 17 appearances for Red Bull Salzburg and has been establishing a foothold in the first-team setup at the Red Bull Arena.
At the same time, Sesko has been capturing the attention of some of the biggest clubs in Europe, with one of his most aggressive suitors being Real Madrid. And now, Sesko’s agent Elvis Basanovic has spoken about the player’s recent links with the Spanish giants.
In an interview with AS, Basanovic responded to the Real Madrid links, saying, “I think it’s normal for the best clubs to follow the best talents and I think he is one of the best talents in the world at his age.”
But as I said before, he is just beginning his career and we are going step by step. Talent is not enough to have a great career and right now you have everything you need to progress at Red Bull Salzburg. I think he will stay here for the next 2-3 years. We don’t need to rush through anything.”
Basanovic then proceeded to talk about whether Sesko would be open to making his way to La Liga, saying, “We respect La Liga because we think it is an interesting and quality league. There are some of the best clubs in the world and it is undoubtedly one of the best leagues in the world. But I don’t think it’s something that I discovered.”
Real Madrid are not the only club to have been linked with Sesko, with Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Manchester City also interested in him. However, it is clear that the 18-year-old is going nowhere for at least a couple of years and it remains to be seen if he can continue his upward trajectory in this time to keep his current suitors interested.
