Ruben Neves has hinted that he could leave Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer, suggesting he may be ready to take the next step in his career.

Ruben Neves has been central to Wolves’ rise in the Premier League over the last few years. The Portuguese midfielder joined the Midlands side as a 20-year-old and when they were in the EFL Championship before helping them secure promotion to the top flight.

Wolves have since firmly established themselves as a mid-table side in the Premier League and never been in any danger of dropping back to the second-tier. Neves has been key to their consistency, and he has been one of their most improved players under Bruno Lage this term.

Arsenal and Manchester United have been linked with a move for the Portuguese midfielder, who has two years left on his Wolves contract. Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was keen on signing the player last summer to replace Granit Xhaka, only for their plans to change following the Swiss international’s decision to stay put and sign a new deal.

Meanwhile, incoming Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag wants to sign Neves as the Dutchman wants to address the club’s issues in central midfield in the summer. The Red Devils like Neves, and they may be open to paying what Wolves are demanding for their main man.

After Wolves’ game against Liverpool, Neves hinted that his future might be away from the Midlands club. His comments appeared on Daily Mirror, as the Portuguese midfielder revealed he has dreams of upgrading his career.

Neves said, “Everyone knows about what football is about, what our lives are about. Our careers are really short; we need to take the opportunities we have. Of course, all of us have dreams, and we need to live those dreams in a short space of time. Let’s see what happens. I cannot say too much about it.”

“This club means everything for me, for my family. My kids grew up in Wolverhampton; I have three kids; they were all born when I was here. That means a lot to me, and the people mean a lot to me because they really helped me to settle here. For me, for my family, everyone is really important.”

“If I go, it would be really hard for my family and me. But, as I told you, we have dreams of living in a short space of time. And if anything happens, that’s why I was so emotional the last game at home because I don’t know how it’s going to be. If it was my last game, it was really important.”

A move to one of the top sides will depend upon Wolves and their asking price for the midfielder. Arsenal are in the market for a new midfielder, and so are Manchester United. Neves will certainly add immense value to either of those sides if they decide to make a move for him in the summer.
