Ian Wright has backed the idea of Arsenal signing Michael Olise, insisting the youngster will be a top star like Wilfried Zaha in the future.

Arsenal are expected to spend heavily in the next window to continue rebuilding their squad under Mikel Arteta and Edu. The Gunners stunned many by making smart recruitments last summer, with all players who arrived aged 23 or lower.

Many supporters did not have faith in those signings, which was clear with the criticism for bringing in Aaron Ramsdale and Ben White. As the duo started putting in excellent displays, the tide turned in their favour and others that Arsenal decided to sign.

The upcoming summer transfer window is important as Arteta would like to have a specific set of players to improve his current squad. A new striker and a playmaker are what the Arsenal manager reportedly needs to strengthen the attacking unit.

One of the players linked with Arsenal is Michael Olise, who has been sensational this season since arriving from Reading in the close season. Arsenal Legend Ian Wright has given his blessing to the club and Arteta to sign the Crystal Palace playmaker, as was evident from his comments, which appeared on TEAMtalk.

The Arsenal legend said, “When you watch what Zaha brings to the team, Wilf is what 29 now? Here you are talking about a youngster that has a massive future. When you look at what he does in the final third. Go and do what you want. He is going to be somebody that is going to do unbelievable things. He has just been called up to the U21s in France. But he deserves that.”

Crystal Palace signed Olise last summer from Reading for around £8.5 million. The youngster has proven his worth and has become an important part of Patrick Vieira’s side. The direct comparisons with Zaha may be right, as the 20-year-old is showing good leadership qualities at a tender age.

It will certainly come as a blow for Crystal Palace if Olise decides to leave in the summer. As for Arsenal, the young playmaker could be a fantastic signing, considering he has decent experience in the top-flight under his belt, after having had a good development phase under former Arsenal midfielder, Vieira.
