Antonio Conte has offered his thoughts on Tottenham Hotspur’s win over West Ham United, praising the players for their improved mentality.

Tottenham Hotspur signed off for the international break with a crucial win over West Ham United. The resounding 3-1 victory helped them overtake Manchester United in the league table and move up to the fifth place, just three points behind their arch-rivals Arsenal.

As the scoreline suggests, it was a dominant performance from the Lilywhites, who looked the better of the two teams right from the beginning. They even had early breakthroughs to show for their dominance with a goal from Son Heung-min and an own goal from Kurt Zouma giving them a solid 2-0 advantage heading into half-time.

Speaking to the media after the game, Antonio Conte offered his thoughts on Tottenham’s win. He praised the improved mentality of his players and highlighted the improvements his troops have made over the week.

“I have seen great improvement about the mentality but also tactically and technically. We are starting to understand and manage 95 minutes in a different way.”

“Today also, when West Ham tried in the first minutes of the second half to push us and increase the intensity, we did well in this period and controlled the game. It shows we are understanding the importance to win the game and managing many parts of the game,” said Conte, as quoted by football.london.

Conte’s comments come just a few weeks after the Italian had publicly questioned his players’ mentality following an inconsistent run of form. It appears the Tottenham manager is currently happy with the way the team has evolved since, stating, “I’m enjoying a lot to see the improvement.”

“Today honestly I said to my players that I want to enjoy watching them playing football. Now I can see they are a really good team and are ready to play against every opponent. Today’s it’s very difficult to play against us,” he added.

Following back to back wins in the Premier League, Tottenham Hotspur will feel they have a great chance of making it to the top four, given that they have a relatively easy run of fixtures coming up and could get to lock horns with fourth-placed Arsenal in the rescheduled derby later this season.

Tottenham will return to action at the start of April, welcoming Newcastle United after the international break.
