Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has fired a warning shot ahead of the onset of the 2021/22 season, claiming he is feeling a lot better now.

Anthony Martial has endured quite a roller-coaster of a ride at Manchester United. One moment he is riding high on a wave of confidence, the next his stock just plummets. That has proven to be the case in the last couple of seasons as well, and rather perfectly so.

Indeed, Martial ended 2019/20 as the top scorer for the campaign for Manchester United, only to endure a forgettable campaign last term, not even managing to get into double figures for goals. 2020/21 also ended in a rather frustrating way for the French forward, who missed the final stages of the season due to a knee injury.

Heading into 2021/22, though, Martial has a chance at redemption, with game-time likely to come by rather regularly in the absence of Marcus Rashford. So, even though he has been heavily linked with a potential summer departure amid links with Inter Milan, the player himself seems to be raring to go for the Red Devils.

Speaking to the Manchester United media, Martial confessed, “I am feeling a lot better after five long months. Getting back together with the team and training with them again, I really feel a great improvement. I am going to need a few more weeks to reach my top fitness levels, and I’m really happy just now to have made my return to training.”

“To be honest, I was really happy to start [against Everton] after those long months without playing, it was tremendous to get back out there, especially with the fans and the win, brilliant. With the season I had last year, and the niggling injuries I had which prevented me from being at 100 per cent, I’ve since put in my best prep work, so as to be sure of coming back in the best form I can.”

“And I hope I can get to my full fitness level as quickly as possible now, to set me up for a great season this time round. I hope to avoid injury, of course, and to be really ready and in top shape fitness-wise, to be able to have a great season, and win some trophies.”

While his future at club level might be uncertain, despite rumours that Manchester United have no intention of selling him, Martial will be eager to prove his naysayers wrong and get back to his best levels in the coming season, wherein he will be a key figure in the Red Devils’ Premier League title charge.
