Brazilian prodigy Angelo Gabriel has talked about his suitability in Barcelona’s system, claiming he will fit in the first-team setup very well.

In an interview with Spanish publication SPORT, Angelo Gabriel spoke on various topics before reaching the point of Barcelona. And the Brazilian prodigy was quick to remark that he would suit Barcelona’s system well if he joins the Blaugrana in future.

Angelo Gabriel is widely regarded as one of the best young prospects in Brazil, having made significant progress since joining Santos FC. After rapidly moving up the ranks at the Brazilian club, the teenage whizkid broke into their first-team squad in October 2020, aged 15.

Since then, the 17-year-old has progressed considerably, becoming a regular feature for Peixe. To date, the player has turned out 60 times for Santos. And while his tally of two goals and two assists might not be too impressive, Angelo Gabriel has still made enough of an impression to capture the attention of several European bigwigs, including Barcelona.

Widespread reports have claimed that the Catalan giants have secured a purchase option on the young Brazilian prospect. Barcelona could sign Angelo Gabriel for €35 million, which could be a steal if he continues on his upward trajectory.

The 17-year-old Brazilian prodigy has now spoken about Barcelona’s interest in him during an interview with SPORT. When asked about whether he was aware that the Blaugrana had scouted him during his youth playing days, he said, “No. I focus a lot on playing soccer, on having fun. I leave the outfield in the hands of my family and my agent.”

Angelo Gabriel then said he would suit Barcelona’s style well, iterating, “Yes, I think so. Many Brazilians have passed through Barcelona: Ronaldinho Gaucho, Romario, Rivaldo, Ronaldo, Neymar.”

“It is a club where the Brazilians play very well and have always been very successful. It is a club that I admire a lot, I watch their games. I am a fan and I am a great admirer of Messi, who is an eternal idol there. Barca is Barca.”

Angelo Gabriel is not incorrect in his assessment when he says that Brazilian players gel well in Barcelona’s setup. Whether he can be the latest star from the country to make his mark at Camp Nou remains to be seen. But with Real Madrid also in the hunt, Barcelona could be well-served by exercising the purchase option as soon as possible.
