Fabrice Muamba has heaped praise on Aaron Ramsdale, labelling him the best goalkeeper in the Premier League after impressive displays for Arsenal.

Aaron Ramsdale divided the Arsenal fanbase like no other player in the summer. When the intention to sign the goalkeeper became clear, many criticised the club for spending big on someone who suffered back-to-back relegations in the Premier League.

Pundits fueled the fire by questioning Arsenal’s decision to sign Ramsdale and heavily tipped the former Sheffield United goalkeeper to fail at the Emirates. However, after playing ten Premier League games for the Gunners, the shot-stopper has massively proved his doubters wrong and produced some excellent performances.

Ramsdale has been terrific, and some of his displays have forced pundits to eat back their words. He has managed to keep six clean sheets in in the Premier League, as his presence alone has solidified the Arsenal backline. The Gunners were bottom of the table when Ramsdale joined and now find themselves comfortably in fifth place.

According to WhoScored, Ramsdale has the best rating for any goalkeeper in the Premier League. He does have an identical rating to Chelsea star Edouard Mendy, although he slightly pips the Senegalese goalkeeper on saves made per game. He has excelled in a league that has goalkeepers such as Ederson Moraes, Alisson Becker and David de Gea.

After Chelsea’s win over Watford on Wednesday, Mendy might have pipped Ramsdale to the top spot. The Arsenal star will have a chance to reclaim the summit when Arsenal visit Manchester United in the Premier League on Thursday.

Former Arsenal midfielder Fabrice Muamba has now stated that Ramsdale is the best in the Premier League on current form. He has admitted to doubting the goalkeeper when he joined the Gunners, although he is convinced of his quality now. Speaking on his personal Twitch Channel, Muamba’s comments appeared on HITC.

Muamba said, “I think, personally, in my opinion, he is the best goalkeeper in England right now; some of the saves he’s making right now, it’s incredible. Everything that’s coming his way, he’s making it look easy. I was sceptical of him because he came from a team that got relegated, and Arsenal spent a lot to get him, but he’s got his opportunity, and he’s making save after save.”

“Everything Aaron is doing looks very good. Aaron, as I said, when you look at the top goalkeepers in England, this kid should be amongst it. He’s come so far in terms of proving his ability. You cannot rule this young man out; he’s been incredible.”

Whether Ramsdale can sustain his levels at Arsenal as the season progresses remains to be seen. For now, the Englishman appears to be doing no wrong, and it looks like Arsenal and England are in safe hands in him for years to come.
