The Hard Tackle lists three clubs that should pursue Spanish forward Marco Asensio, who could leave Real Madrid this summer.

Marco Asensio has reached a crossroads in his career. The 26-year-old is coming off his most productive campaign thus far for Real Madrid but yet finds himself as a rotation option in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad, even though only Karim Benzema and Vinicius Jr. found the back of the net more often this past season.

Rodrygo Goes is arguably ahead of the Spanish forward in the pecking order for wide-attackers at Real Madrid. So it is hardly surprising that Asensio’s long-term future at the Santiago Bernabeu is up in the air, with clubs across Europe lining up to secure his signature in the summer transfer window.

Widespread reports, for the most part, have suggested that the Merengues want to tie Asensio to a new long-term contract, but the two parties are no closer to reaching an agreement over a renewal. But the speculations took a turn this past week, with Real Madrid reportedly ready to sell the 26-year-old in the summer transfer window.

A summer departure from the Santiago Bernabeu could thus be on the cards for Asensio, and there are several high-profile clubs in Europe that have already shown interest in the Spaniard. The Hard Tackle now lists three clubs that should launch the offensive for the Real Madrid forward following the latest development.

Manchester United

The first club is a no-brainer, considering their connections with Jorge Mendes and Real Madrid. This European bigwig is also no stranger to having every name under the sun emerging as a target, as per media across Europe. We are talking about Manchester United.

While Asensio might be the umpteenth attacker to emerge on Manchester United’s radar, the Real Madrid forward is a player worth pursuing. The Red Devils, after all, need a winger who is adept at playing on the right-wing, a problem area for the Premier League heavyweights for years.

With Jadon Sancho showing promising signs on the left-wing and Marcus Rashford struggling to impose himself on the right flank, Asensio is the ideal player for Manchester United to pursue. The Spaniard’s directness will be a breath of fresh air, and his prowess on the ball makes him an ideal fit in Erik ten Hag’s system.

That said, Asensio’s lack of creativity is a potential problem area that ten Hag will need to work on if the Real Madrid forward moves to Old Trafford. All in all, though, Manchester United should be on the Spanish international’s case if he is available for a transfer this summer.

AC Milan

The second club on our list is another prospective suitor for Asensio. And unlike Manchester United, this European heavyweight can offer UEFA Champions League football in the 2022/23 season while competing for domestic honours at the very least. We are now talking about AC Milan.

The reigning Serie A champions are back on top of Italian football after a dreadful decade that saw their stock plummet significantly. But Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s influence, coupled with the brilliance of Stefano Pioli, has guided AC Milan back to the summit of Serie A, with a bright future beckoning.

But despite clinching the league title, AC Milan will need shrewd signings in the summer transfer window to remain perched atop Serie A. And signing Asensio from Real Madrid will be a step in the right direction for the Rossoneri, with the player’s qualities making him an attractive target.

With neither Alexis Saelemaekers nor Junior Messias convincing enough as the first-choice right-winger, the Italian champions need to sign the Real Madrid forward. Asensio has also shown openness to moving to San Siro in the summer transfer window, and this transfer could be on the cards this summer.

Chelsea

Asensio features on the radars of several other Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United. But one English bigwig that should pursue the Real Madrid forward in the summer transfer window hails from west London. We have turned our attention towards Chelsea.

Raheem Sterling is reportedly the priority target for Chelsea, with Ousmane Dembele another wide-attacker on their radar. But Dembele is reportedly closing in on committing his long-term future to Barcelona, with Chelsea reportedly reconsidering launching the offensive for the French forward.

In addition, Sterling will likely replace Romelu Lukaku, arriving from Manchester City as a versatile addition to the Chelsea frontline. But with Hakim Ziyech, Christian Pulisic and Timo Werner facing uncertain futures at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea will need to invest in another attacker, bringing Asensio into the picture.

The Real Madrid forward might not be on Chelsea’s radar right now, but he should be a target this summer. Asensio has added goals to his arsenal, and with Chelsea sorely lacking prolific contribution from the attackers, the Real Madrid man needs to be a target. And while he primarily starts on the right flank, Asensio can also play on the left-wing, making him an attractive option for Chelsea.
