La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid reportedly view Oliver Glasner, a target for Tottenham, as a possible candidate to replace Carlo Ancelotti in future.

According to a report by German publication Bild, Oliver Glasner is the subject of interest from Real Madrid as a possible replacement for Carlo Ancelotti in the future. The Eintracht Frankfurt manager is also on Tottenham Hotspur’s radar amid uncertainties surrounding Antonio Conte.

Oliver Glasner has steadily grown in stature since arriving in Germany from his homeland Austria in 2019. The 47-year-old enjoyed an excellent two-year stint with VfL Wolfsburg, guiding them to UEFA Europa League qualification in his first campaign before overseeing a top-four finish in the 2020/21 season.

Glasner joined Eintracht Frankfurt last year following a successful season with Wolfsburg, and he has continued to be impressive as a manager in the Bundesliga. While Die Adler endured a forgettable Bundesliga campaign by finishing in the 11th spot, they went all the way in the Europa League.

Eintracht Frankfurt claimed big scalps en route to the final in Seville last week, beating Barcelona in the quarter-finals and West Ham United in the semi-finals. The Bundesliga outfit met Rangers in the final and won the Europa League after prevailing in the penalty shootout. And Eintracht Frankfurt’s success in Europe has captured the attention of Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur.

Real Madrid might not be planning to replace Carlo Ancelotti anytime following a successful 2021/22 season. But the Spanish giants are keeping their options open, with recent reports claiming they have compiled a five-man shortlist to identify Ancelotti’s successor. And Glasner is the latest manager to emerge on Real Madrid’s radar after scouts specifically vetted the 47-year-old.

As for Tottenham, Spurs need to be on their toes to identify a replacement for Antonio Conte, whose future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is unsure amid interest from Paris Saint-Germain. To that end, Graham Potter has emerged as the priority option for the north Londoners, who also have Glasner on their radar.

According to the report, Real Madrid might not move in for Glasner ahead of the 2022/23 season, especially if they prevail in the UEFA Champions League final against Liverpool. But Glasner will come into contention to become the new Real Madrid manager when Ancelotti eventually calls it quits at the Santiago Bernabeu, although Tottenham might have something to say about their pursuit of the Eintracht Frankfurt boss.
