Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is reportedly open to joining Real Madrid in the future but will only end his stint with the Reds in 2024 at the earliest.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Jurgen Klopp has no intention of leaving Liverpool before his contract runs out in 2024. But the German tactician is open to joining Real Madrid in the future, handing Los Blancos a major boost in his long-term pursuit.

Jurgen Klopp is one of the greatest managers of his generation, having enjoyed some phenomenal achievements in his career. The 54-year-old first rose to prominence during his time at 1. FSV Mainz 05, guiding them to promotion to the Bundesliga for the first time in the club’s history.

The German tactician’s stock skyrocketed during his stint with Borussia Dortmund, with the Black and Yellows twice pipping Bayern Munich to the Bundesliga title in 2010/11 and 2011/12. But Klopp has truly established himself as an elite football coach upon joining Liverpool in 2015.

Klopp has guided Liverpool to unprecedented success in the Premier League era, delivering their first top-flight title in 30 years in 2019/20. Under Klopp’s tutelage, the Reds have also won four other trophies, including the UEFA Champions League in 2019. And after clinching the Carabao Cup earlier this year, Liverpool could claim an unthinkable quadruple.

Liverpool’s quadruple bid was strengthened by the win over Nottingham Forest last weekend, with his team reaching the FA Cup semi-finals. And with Liverpool just one point behind defending champions Manchester City, winning the Premier League title is not out of the question either. Now, Klopp’s phenomenal achievements with Liverpool have attracted Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants are renowned for being all about the glitz and the glamour in football, appointing the best managers and signing the best players over the years. Carlo Ancelotti is the current Real Madrid manager, rejoining the club last year. And while he has overseen a strong campaign at the Santiago Bernabeu, the recent 4-0 defeat at the hands of Barcelona has heaped pressure on him.

Several managers, including Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino, have been linked with Real Madrid of late, but Klopp occupies Los Blancos’ fancy the most. That said, the Liverpool key man will not leave the Reds anytime soon, as he intends to honour his contract by staying put at Anfield till June 30, 2024.

Klopp recently spoke about his future, insisting his long-term plan with Liverpool remains unchanged. But he is attracted by the idea of joining Real Madrid, even if the chance comes two years later. For now, though, Klopp is not going anywhere, meaning Liverpool fans can breathe a sigh of relief.
