Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly keen on returning to Tottenham Hotspur.

According to talkSPORT host Alan Brazil, PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino has his heart set on a return to Tottenham Hotspur despite interest from Manchester United and Real Madrid. Pochettino’s time in Paris has been marred by mixed results, which has failed to convince the club’s board that he is the right man to lead them to European glory.

Pochettino started his managerial career with Espanyol, spending a little over three years with them. Southampton were his next managerial project, where he spent one-and-a-half seasons, leading them to their best ever Premier League position and point haul.

At Tottenham Hotspur, the Argentine stamped his authority on English and European football. He oversaw massive improvement in Spurs’ Premier League positions, leading them to a second-place finish in the 2016/17 season. He also led the north London side to their first ever UEFA Champions League final in 2019, only to lose to Liverpool.

Following his sacking from Spurs in November 2019, the Argentine remained without a job for a little over a year, during which he was linked with both Manchester United and Real Madrid. PSG appointed him as their manager in January 2021, and he is contracted with them until 2023.

But recent reports claim that the club may allow him to leave in the summer. While both Manchester United and Real Madrid continue to be linked with Pochettino, he is reportedly looking for a reunion with Spurs.

“Pochettino is not going to United – Man United have been warned by PSG sporting director [Leonardo] that Pochettino has no intention of leaving Paris,” talkSPORT host Alan Brazil said. “Well, I tell you right now, that is not the case. From the horses mouth, Poch wants to come back to the Premier [League] and he wants to come back with Tottenham,”

Manchester United are looking for a permanent solution to their managerial conundrum while Ralf Rangnick continues to manage them on an interim basis. Ajax boss Erik ten Hag and former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique have also been linked with the Old Trafford job.

As far as Real Madrid are concerned, they are currently being managed by Carlo Ancelotti. But with Florentino Perez preparing for the future, they too are looking for a long-term option for the manager’s post.

Antonio Conte is currently at the helm at Tottenham Hotspur, but the club could be tempted to reunite with Pochettino if the Italian leaves. Whether a reunion between Pochettino and Spurs materialises in the summer remains to be seen.
