Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly offered a bumper new contract to Kylian Mbappe, a priority target for Real Madrid.

According to a report by Spanish publication AS, French heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain have stepped up their efforts to keep Kylian Mbappe away from the prying hands of Real Madrid. Les Parisiens have tabled a lucrative deal to the French international, offering a significant signing-on fee and wages worth around €50 million per season.

By now, it is common knowledge that Real Madrid will aim to sign Kylian Mbappe on a Bosman move in the summer transfer window. The Spanish giants unsuccessfully attempted to prise the 23-year-old away from Paris Saint-Germain last summer, coming ever so close to securing his services on a nine-figure deal.

The interest has only grown stronger, with Real Madrid relishing the chance to snap Mbappe up for nothing. Widespread reports have claimed that the Merengues have reached a pre-contract agreement to sign the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner on a Bosman move in the summer. But PSG will not throw in the towel that easily.

The major issue for PSG is that they have already seen Mbappe reject one bumper contract offer. But Les Parisiens are understandably keen on tying the French international to a new deal before his current contract expires in the summer. To that end, they offered Mbappe another lucrative deal a week ago.

According to AS, PSG could pay Mbappe around €50 million per season after-tax, making him one of the world’s highest-paid players. But PSG will not stop there, as they are also offering a €200 million pre-tax signing-on bonus as a show of gratitude if he turns his back on Real Madrid. In addition, they will also let Mbappe join the France squad for the Paris Olympics in 2024 – one of the player’s major ambitions.

Mbappe’s transfer saga has also got French president Emmanuel Macron involved, meaning PSG’s endeavour will not die down so easily. As for Real Madrid, the Spanish giants are confident that they will secure the services of the 23-year-old on a Bosman move while also being assured that the result of their UEFA Champions League tie against PSG will not change his mind.

Mbappe has been a stalwart for PSG over the last five years, amassing an excellent tally of 156 goals and 78 assists in 205 appearances across all competitions. But as things stand, his stay at Parc des Princes will end in the summer transfer window, with Real Madrid his likeliest destination.
