PSG are reportedly prepared to make Kylian Mbappe the world’s highest-paid player in order to stop him from joining Real Madrid in the summer.

According to an exclusive report from the Independent, Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to pull out all the stops in their bid to ensure that Kylian Mbappe does not end up leaving for Real Madrid next summer.

Mbappe, who joined PSG from Ligue 1 rivals AS Monaco in the summer of 2017, has grown into one of the best forwards in the game since. The 23-year-old has amassed an amazing tally of 154 goals and 77 assists from 203 appearances, winning a host of domestic trophies in the process. However, success on the continental stages continues to elude him and Les Parisiens.

Mbappe has won the FIFA World Cup and the UEFA Nations League with the French national team. The 23-year-old superstar is in the final four months of his contract with PSG and has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid. The Merengues made a mammoth offer to sign him last summer but were rebuffed by the Parisian giants.

However, with the Frenchman now free to negotiate a pre-contract with clubs from abroad, it has been claimed that he already has an agreement in place with Real Madrid

The 23-year-old has refused to give away too much regarding his future, but PSG are making all efforts to try and extend his contract so that he does not end up jumping ship to Real Madrid.

Indeed, as per the report, the current Ligue 1 leaders are ready to hand Mbappe a massive new contract that would make him the world’s highest-paid player. It states that the 23-year-old would be given a deal worth well in excess of £500,000-a-week in basic wages, with the figure being close to £1 million per week.

Mbappe’s representatives met with officials from PSG earlier this week, following his match-winning display against Los Blancos in the UEFA Champions League. The French superstar and his camp are willing to consider the club’s latest contract proposal. Real Madrid, meanwhile, would be in no position to meet such figures.

So, it will be interesting to see how the situation develops in the coming weeks as Mbappe’s contract stands to run down at the end of the season.
