A host of European clubs are eyeing a move for Cristiano Ronaldo, who has struggled for form at Manchester United since his high profile summer move.

According to The Sun, there is significant interest from top European clubs in Cristiano Ronaldo, who has not had it easy at Manchester United. After an uncertain few months at Old Trafford, the Portuguese superstar’s future is being called into question, with Bayern Munich and PSG among clubs keeping tabs on the forward.

Manchester United fans rejoiced at the return of Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer. The Portuguese’s quality and goalscoring prowess led to talk of the Red Devils being contenders for the Premier League title, considering the other additions such as Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho, along with existing stars like Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes in their lineup.

However, things have not gone to plan, with the club struggling collectively, effectively ending any hope of a title challenge. Manchester United have also been knocked out of the FA Cup, Carabao Cup, although they are still in the top-four race. They redeemed themselves with a win over Brighton on Tuesday night, where Ronaldo scored after a six-game run without a goal.

While the goal might have come as a relief for the talismanic forward and his fans, there is still uncertainty surrounding his future at the club. His agent Jorge Mendes has already held talks with the Manchester United hierarchy to understand the situation, with reports claiming that a finish outside the top four could lead to an exit. Plenty of questions have been asked about the club’s decision to sign the player in the first place.

While there have been no indications as such so far, it is understood that Ronaldo wants to keep playing Champions League football. If Manchester United fail to finish in the top four, the Portuguese international might consider his options and move to another side playing in the premier European competition.

PSG are reportedly interested and looking at Ronaldo as a value addition to their star-studded squad. It will certainly be a dream for football fans to watch the Portuguese and long-term adversary Lionel Messi play together. However, huge financial investment will be needed to make it happen.

PSG are also on the verge of losing Kylian Mbappe, who could join Real Madrid on a free transfer in the summer. The French forward’s departure will leave a wide gap in the forward areas, allowing Ronaldo to fill in and become their preferred frontman.

There is also reported interest from Bayern Munich, who could be interested in the Portuguese star to replace Robert Lewandowski if the Pole decides to leave the club. But Bayern are not known to pay exorbitant salaries to their players. So, it is difficult to see them spending a big chunk on the 37-year-old Ronaldo.

As things stand, Ronaldo could yet get the wish of finishing his career at Manchester United, although if circumstances dictate terms, he might quit the club in the summer. It remains to be seen where he might end up for his next challenge.
