Barcelona will reportedly need to fend off stiff competition from Inter Milan in the race to sign Paulo Dybala on a Bosman move in the summer.

According to reputed Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, Barcelona and Inter Milan are closely monitoring the situation of Paulo Dybala. The 28-year-old Argentine international will soon resume discussions with Juventus over a new contract, with his current deal expiring in the summer transfer window.

Paulo Dybala has established himself as one of the best forwards in Serie A since arriving in Italy a decade ago, joining Palermo from Instituto AC. But it was after moving to Juventus from Palermo in July 2015 that the Argentine stepped his game up several notches.

The 28-year-old Argentine international has gone through several highs and lows in Turin in the last six and a half years while amassing a record of 112 goals and 48 assists in 280 appearances. But Dybala’s future at Juventus is up in the air as he has entered the final six months of his contract, with his situation capturing the attention of Barcelona and Inter Milan.

The links with Barcelona could be stemming from the uncertainties surrounding the future of Ousmane Dembele. The Frenchman looks set to depart Camp Nou as a free agent, with his exit likely to open up a spot in the Blaugrana’s attacking unit.

With Memphis Depay also facing an uncertain future at Barcelona, Dybala’s addition on a Bosman move could be much-needed. But Barcelona will need to fend off stiff competition from Inter Milan in the race to sign the 28-year-old Argentine international on a free transfer.

The interest from Inter Milan comes as a bit of a surprise, as recent reports have claimed that Alexis Sanchez could be handed a new contract. But if the former Barcelona forward were to leave, the Serie A champions could perhaps do with a new attacking addition. Dybala is thus an option worth considering, especially with Edin Dzeko in the twilight of his career.

Apart from Barcelona and Inter Milan, several Premier League clubs have also been linked with the Juventus forward. But the Serie A giants are scrambling to tie the 28-year-old down to a new deal and have already contacted his entourage again before possibly resuming contract renewal talks this month.
