Manchester United will reportedly make an attempt to sign Norwegian hitman Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window.

According to SPORT, Manchester United are set to launch a move to secure the signing of Borussia Dortmund attacking sensation Erling Haaland in the upcoming transfer window.

Haaland has been with Dortmund for a little over two years now, having joined from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020. He has grown into an exceptional striker during his time at the Signal Iduna Park, plundering 80 goals and 21 assists from only 79 games to date. This term, the 21-year-old has been in prolific form, having already netted 23 goals in just 20 games across all competitions.

However, Haaland’s time at Dortmund could be set to draw to a close in the summer, as his release clause will be coming into effect at the end of the season. It has alerted a host of top clubs across Europe, with Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain all being linked with moves for the hitman.

And, as per the report, Manchester United are also in the hunt for his signing as they look to revamp their attacking unit. The Red Devils will need to sign at least one top-tier striker in the summer transfer window. Cristiano Ronaldo turned 37 earlier this month and has not been in the best form of late.

At the same time, Edinson Cavani will be out of contract at the end of the season and will, in all likelihood, depart Old Trafford. Anthony Martial joined Sevilla on loan in January and is unlikely to continue at Manchester United once he returns. With Mason Greenwood suspended indefinitely and Marcus Rashford being utilised on the flanks, there would be an immediate requirement for a new striker.

Haaland, to that end, would be the ideal target for Manchester United. The 21-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Mancunian outfit ever since his Red Bull Salzburg days. The Red Devils were beaten to his signing by Dortmund a couple of years ago but will hope to swoop him away from the Black and Yellows in the summer.

Manchester United will have a new manager next season, with Ralf Rangnick set to move into a consultancy role. Mauricio Pochettino has been touted as the most likely candidate, but names like Erik ten Hag and Luis Enrique have also been mentioned. Irrespective of whoever comes in, the 20-time English champions are expected to go after Haaland.

Manchester United worked on the Jadon Sancho deal with Borussia Dortmund last year and would hope to repeat that success with Haaland. However, their problematic relationship with Mino Raiola and the possibility of missing out on Champions League football could prove to be hindrances for the Red Devils.

I think Man U,should go for a more younger high profile player for the future, rather older age,and tiring legs.
