Spanish giants Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing 17-year-old Eintracht Frankfurt wonderkid Enrique Herrero in the summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Enrique Herrero is the subject of interest from Real Madrid over a possible move. The La Liga heavyweights are looking to bolster their ranks at La Fabrica by snapping up the 17-year-old wonderkid from Eintracht Frankfurt.

Enrique Herrero is widely regarded as one of the most promising young strikers in Europe, having been on the radars of top clubs across the continent for years. The teenage prodigy spent most of his formative years in Spain and even played for Villarreal from 2020 to 2021 before joining Eintracht Frankfurt last summer.

The 17-year-old Spanish wonderkid is yet to make his first-team debut for the Bundesliga club and remains on the fringes of the senior setup. But Herrero’s exploits in age-group football over the years have not gone unnoticed, with Real Madrid among his prospective suitors.

Real Madrid had also been keen on signing Herrero last summer. But the 17-year-old snubbed Los Blancos and other European bigwigs like Barcelona and Juventus to join Eintracht Frankfurt. The continued interest from Real Madrid is hardly surprising, though, considering their constant search for prodigious talents in Europe and beyond.

Such an outlook has fetched them current first-team stars like Vinicius Junior, Federico Valverde and Rodrygo Goes, who all had to go through the lower sides before becoming regulars in the senior setup. The latest of Real Madrid’s key youth targets is Endrick, who has been heavily linked with them in recent weeks.

Closer to home, Alejandro Monserrate has been linked with Real Madrid, with Herrero another such prospect on their radar. According to the report, the 17-year-old will first become a part of La Fabrica, with chances of joining up with Raul Gonzalez’s Real Madrid Castilla side being high.

For now, Herrero has emerged as a possible target to bolster Real Madrid’s youth setup, but it is unclear if the Spanish wonderkid will leave Eintracht Frankfurt after just one season. It remains to be seen if Los Blancos will firm up their interest in him in the weeks and months to come.
