Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are reportedly keeping tabs on the situation of Chelsea and Germany forward Kai Havertz.

According to Fichajes, versatile Chelsea attacker, Kai Havertz has emerged as a transfer target for German giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

Havertz arrived at Chelsea in the summer of 2020 after enjoying a rapid rise to stardom in the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen. The German forward enjoyed a stop-start debut season with the Blues but scored some vital goals over the course of the campaign, none more so than the winner in the UEFA Champions League final against Manchester City.

The ongoing season has again been a mixed-bag for Havertz, who has found himself in and out of the starting XI at Stamford Bridge due to fitness issues, as well as increased competition in the side. He has scored six times and assisted four more goals in 28 matches across all competitions, including netting the all-important winning goal in the FIFA Club World Cup final against Palmeiras last weekend.

Despite making valuable contributions, Havertz is not seen as a permanent fixture in the lineup by manager Thomas Tuchel. It has resulted in clubs from across Europe considering the possibility of swooping the 22-year-old away from Chelsea, with Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund eyeing a summer move.

Bayern Munich will eventually need to look for long-term replacements for Thomas Muller and Robert Lewandowski. And Havertz would be an ideal option for the Bavarian giants to consider, given that he has already proven himself in the Bundesliga and is capable of playing in a multitude of positions while having the ability to score and create goals in abundance.

As for Borussia Dortmund, they need to find a new marquee forward to lead the team amid question marks over the future of Erling Haaland. With Marco Reus set to turn 33 by the time the next season starts, his game-time will also need to be managed carefully, making a versatile, proven player like Havertz very much a viable target for the Black and Yellows.

Apart from the two German heavyweights, Atletico Madrid are also in the mix as they look to replace Joao Felix, who has been linked heavily with an exit after struggling to make an impact in the Spanish capital.

While there may be interest rising in the 22-year-old, it is unlikely that Chelsea will let their star man leave in the summer considering his age, talent and potential, along with the investment they have made in him. And with his contract running until the summer of 2025, the Blues are in a strong negotiating position to rebuff any advances from clubs interested in Havertz.
