Leeds United and Newcastle are interested in signing Nigerian winger Moses Simon, with Nantes ready to sell at the right price in the summer.

According to Owngoalnigeria, Premier League clubs Newcastle United and Leeds United have significant interest in Moses Simon. His club, Nantes, are prepared to sell if suitors meet their demand of £20 million for the 26-year-old.

Moses Simon will use his good performances from the AFCON to get a move away from Nantes in the summer, with significant interest from the Premier League in the winger. He has become a key member of the Ligue 1 side and could feel the time is right in his career to make the next move.

He has played 21 times in all competitions, scoring twice and providing six assists in the process. Moreover, he did a fine job for Nigeria in the AFCON. Moses Simon certainly has the potential to make a big impact in the next stage of his career and Nantes are prepared to sell their player, who has a contract until 2024. But they would like to get at least £20 million for the winger.

Newcastle United and Leeds United are the clubs currently showing interest, with the report suggesting both Premier League sides have offers on the table for the attacker.

Newcastle want to improve their squad further despite the spending spree in the January window. They might still look at a new attacking prospect in the summer, although Moses Simon may not be considered a sure starter next season.

The Magpies also have interest in Victor Osimhen, who is Simon’s international teammate. It could be a busy summer at St James Park, with Newcastle expected to spend big if they manage to stay up in the Premier League. As for Nantes’ demand of £20 million for Simon, the Premier League side will have no problems in paying that sum.

It is reported that the Magpies’ contract offer for Simon worth £100,000-a-week could be enough to convince the player over a move, although there is some interest from Leeds United. They are keen on a new attacker in the summer and have identified the left side of the attack as a critical area to strengthen.

Leeds might end up losing Raphinha, who continues to attract interest from elite sides. Simon could be seen as the ideal replacement for the Brazilian, although it remains to be seen if they can meet Nantes’ valuation for the winger.

It could be an interesting race for Simon in the summer, although if Newcastle end up offering the contract being reported, they are likely to get their man. Leeds could certainly offer him more playing opportunities, and his style could suit Bielsa’s system, but the proposal from the Magpies could be too lucrative to turn down.
