Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira could be set for a permanent move to Flamengo, with the Brazilian outfit set to acquire his services until 2026.

According to a recent report from UOL, Manchester United have reached an agreement with Flamengo regarding the sale of Andreas Pereira. The midfielder has been plying his trade for the Brazilian outfit, who have recently held talks with the Premier League giants over a permanent move, agreeing a deal that could see them acquire 75% of the player’s transfer rights.

It essentially means Manchester United are set to hold a 25% stake in Pereira’s future sale, whereas Flamengo are currently expected to pay around €14 million to acquire his services on a permanent deal. The midfielder is set to sign a contract until 2026, thus putting an end to his career at Old Trafford.

A native of Brazil, Pereira has been a part of Manchester United since January 2012. He has made 75 competitive appearances for the club during his ongoing ten-year spell at Old Trafford, with his time in England also involving loan stints at Granada, Valencia and Lazio.

Last summer, Flamengo became the fourth club to sign the player on loan from Manchester United. He was brought in to further strengthen a team that has dominated South America’s club footballing scene in recent years. Upon his move to Brazil, the midfielder hasn’t disappointed either, racking up 16 league appearances in his first season.

Although Pereira wasn’t able to help Flamengo secure the Brazilian league title, it appears he is set for an extended stay in Brazil, with his current employers prepared to secure his services on a permanent deal. It could be a sensible move for the player, who doesn’t have a future at Old Trafford despite the likely exit of Paul Pogba in the summer.

With question marks over the consistency of players like Fred and Scott McTominay, Ralf Rangnick is likely to encourage the signing of several quality midfielders in the summer.

The Red Devils are reportedly in the market for AS Roma starlet Nicolo Zaniolo next season, with the Italian hoping to take the next step in his career. His potential addition, coupled with the return of Donny van de Beek from his loan deal at Everton, could once again hinder Pereira’s prospects at Old Trafford.

Hence, a move to Flamengo could certainly make sense for the 26-year-old, who will be keen on making an impression in 2022 and sneaking into the Brazilian setup for the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
